Gaeta si riaccende con le Favole di Luce! Quest’anno, fino al 16 gennaio, potremo godere in pieno dell’atmosfera natalizia con le luminose installazioni che attraversano tutta la città . Have you seen the lights of Gaeta, they are definitely something not to be missed. This year many new innovations have been added, together with old favourites, and the magnificent tribute to the Supreme Poet Dante Alighieri, on the 700th anniversary of his passing.
With the Fables of Light in Gaeta you take a trip around the world!
The sixth edition of Favole di Luce leads us around different countries of the world. We start our tour from Piazza V. Capodanno, where we find one of the most representative monuments of Italy: the Tower of Pisa which stands out in the square above Via Indipendenza. Walking through the hub towards the centre of Gaeta, we arrive in Piazza XIX Maggio which hosts a corner of China with the enormous Dragon Zu, this year’s new attraction, which, with the luminous arches that form its body is bound to be an excellent backdrop for memorable photos.
After the Drago Zu you will find yourself in front of a crossroads: turn towards Serapo or towards Gaeta vecchia? Wherever you go, we bet you will be amazed at what you see. Going towards Serapo, and continuing along Corso Italia, you will be captivated by an incredible vision! Yes, the Eiffel Tower is located in the square that houses the famous glass factory of Gaeta. From China to France in a snap of your fingers! The quintessential Parisian monument lights up with different colours in a fascinating display of lights.
But now it’s time to go and discover the homage reserved for Egypt. In Gaeta vecchia, at the Molo Santa Maria, the “Mysteries of Ancient Egypt” are staged. Next to the Ferris wheel you will find two majestic sphinxes and a pyramid in which you can enter to fully appreciate its exuberance of lights.
A walk with Dante Alighieri for the lights of Gaeta
Another captivating attraction is the path dedicated to Dante Alighieri which starts from the Carlo III gate on which the beginnings of the Divine Comedy was created.
Continuing, you will be able to see on the walls of Lungomare Caboto on which the verses of Canto XXVI of Hell are projected, in which Gaeta is mentioned. We arrive a little further on, at the church of San Biagio, where Hell ends with the final phrase “And so we went out to see the stars”.
But did you know that you can actually meet Dante in person? On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays you can follow the Supreme Poet during a travelling theatrical tour to discover these artistic wall projections.
What else can we say, we are waiting to welcome you to Gaeta to admire our wonderful Illuminations!
