Favole di Luce 2021-2022. A stroll through Gaeta’s light displays

Gaeta lights up again with Favole di Luce! This year, until January 16, we can fully enjoy the Christmas atmosphere with the luminous installations that run throughout the city. If you’ve never seen Gaeta’s light displays, we recommend you don’t miss them. This year, many new features have been added to the old favorites, including a magnificent tribute to the Supreme Poet Dante Alighieri, on the 700th anniversary of his death.

With Favole di Luce, Gaeta takes you around the world!

The sixth edition of Favole di Luce takes us on a journey through different countries around the world. We start our tour from Piazza V. Capodanno where we find one of Italy’s most iconic monuments: the Tower of Pisa rising in the square above Via Indipendenza. Walking through the alley toward the center of Gaeta, we arrive at Piazza XIX Maggio which for the occasion hosts a corner of China with the Zu Dragon, this year’s new attraction that, with the luminous arches forming its body, promises to be an excellent backdrop for wonderful photos.

After the Zu Dragon you’ll find yourself at a crossroads: turn toward Serapo or toward old Gaeta? Wherever you go, we bet you’ll be amazed by what you see. Heading toward Serapo and continuing along Corso Italia, you’ll be captivated by an incredible sight! Yes indeed, in the square that hosts Gaeta’s famous glassworks, the Eiffel Tower stands. From China to France in the snap of a finger! The Parisian monument par excellence lights up in different colors in a fascinating play of light.

But now it’s time to discover the tribute reserved for Egypt. In old Gaeta, at Molo Santa Maria, the “Mysteries of Ancient Egypt” take center stage. Next to the Ferris wheel, in fact, you’ll find two majestic sphinxes and a pyramid which you can enter to fully appreciate its play of lights.

A stroll with Dante Alighieri through Gaeta’s light displays

Another unmissable attraction is the route dedicated to Dante Alighieri which begins at the Carlo III gate on which the opening of the Divine Comedy is displayed.

Continuing on, you can see the bastions of Lungomare Caboto on which the verses of Canto XXVI of the Inferno are projected, in which Gaeta is also mentioned. We arrive a little further on, at the church of San Biagio, where the Inferno ends with the final verse “And thence we came forth to see again the stars.”
